Around the District

Mahtomedi Principals

National School Principal Recognition Month

October is National School Principal Recognition Month, and we want to thank our principals for their leadership in our district! We see their work in action in so many ways, supporting students, serving as instructional leaders, and managing our schools every day. We are grateful for their dedication to our students, staff, and families and the important role they play in the success of our school community.

Student Cabinet

Mahtomedi Student Cabinet

The Superintendent’s Student Cabinet is a new leadership opportunity this school year at Mahtomedi High School(MHS). Forming the Cabinet is one way the District is taking action on elements of our Strategic Plan that call on us to build trust and partnership with students. The group will serve as a student advisory board and will regularly connect with their MHS peers on designated topics and report back with feedback on strengths and areas for growth. Students applied for the Cabinet and will serve for one year. Each student is connected to different communities within MHS but will work collaboratively for positive outcomes at Mahtomedi Public Schools. The Student Cabinet recently held its first meeting. At the meeting, Superintendent Duffrin gave the students an overview of adult leaders throughout the district and a description of their job duties. Congratulations to this year’s Student Cabinet members: Layla Befidi, Aidan Carlson, Abraham Jansen, Jaylen Jones, Ella Kraai, Steve Kuschke, Ali Lum, Maxwell Newcome, Eden Puchreiter, Matthew Studenski, and Joud Wadi.

Excellence in Action

⭐️25 Years of One Exceptional Athletic Tradition: This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Mahtomedi Cross Country team running the game football for Homecoming. This year, they ran approximately 20 miles in four relay legs of 4-6 miles, with JV running the final leg of the race. Experience the run by watching this video created by Evan Carion, MHS Class of 2025 student and Cross Country Captain.

⭐️ Mahtomedi Elementary PTO Meets Fun Run Goal: Wildwood and O.H. Anderson Elementary School students recently participated in the annual Fun Run fundraiser, and they have met their goal of $27,000! The Fun Run is an event hosted by the Mahtomedi PTO to support funding in our elementary schools throughout the school year. Click here to see photos from the Fun Run events.

⭐️ Mahtomedi Middle School Public Speaking Guest Speaker: Mahtomedi Middle School students in Ms. Lily Korich’s seventh-grade English Language Arts class recently had an exceptionally fun guest speaker during their public speaking unit! Guest speaker, Parker William shared some magic tricks, but most importantly taught students how to engage with an audience through humor and active participation. Click here to see the photos and learn more about the class.

⭐️ Work-Based Learning at 7 Vines Vineyard: During their work-based learning experience at 7 Vines Vineyard and Winery, Passages Transition Program students get the opportunity to work outdoors harvesting grapes from the 7,000 vines growing in the 10-acre vineyard. Students work on stamina, fine motor skills, precision, and teamwork. Click here to see photos from the experience.
