Superintendent Update

Mahtomedi Earns Gold Advanced Placement Award

The Gold distinction recognizes that 74% of our Class of 2025 students took an AP exam (Gold award)

64% of the Class of 2025 scored three or higher on an AP exam (Platinum award) 

13% of Class of 2025 students took 5 AP exams during high school with at least one taken during 9th or 10th grade (Gold award)

Mahtomedi 2024-25 Advanced Placement Data

697 AP exams were taken by 443 students.
85% of our AP students scored 3 or higher on exams
We had 129 AP Scholars (Scholars: 59, Scholar with Honors: 29, and Scholar with Distinction: 40). The Scholars' average score was 4.08.

Coffee & Conversations: February 23

Coffee & Conversations is a community engagement event we host several times throughout the year. Enjoy a coffee and have an in-person conversation with a Mahtomedi School Board member or administrator. No designated topics, just bring your thoughts and ideas. We’ll supply the coffee and share in conversation. Our next Coffee & Conversations is on Monday, February 23, from 4:30-5 pm at the Mahtomedi District Education Center.

Mahtomedi High School

Volunteers will meet with students to discuss careers, potential employment, internships, and volunteer opportunities. This event is a great opportunity to build meaningful connections with Mahtomedi students!

 

Chaperones Needed for MMS Youth Night

The Mahtomedi Middle School (MMS) Youth Night returns on Friday, March 27, and we could use your volunteer help! If you are willing to share some of your time, please complete this volunteer form. There are several shifts available between 2-5:15 pm, so you don't have to stay the whole time. 

Thank you for helping us provide this meaningful opportunity for our MMS students to socialize and connect with their peers!

2026-27 MAP registration is officially open for currently-enrolled Mahtomedi Early Childhood families and in-district families! As always, registration is available on Eleyo.

⭐️ Watching the Winter Olympics? Mahtomedi alum Giorgia Birkeland (Class of 2020) will compete with Team USA in Women's Team Pursuit. Giorgia competed in her first Olympic Games in Beijing 2022. You can watch the Women's team pursuit on Saturday, February 14, and Tuesday, February 17.

⭐️Congratulations to Mahtomedi Theatre, which recently performed its one-act play, Rainbows vs. Bunnies: Annihilation. Mahtomedi Theatre students had a unique opportunity to learn from professional fight director and state combat teacher Mason Tyer. Watch a behind-the-scenes video of one of their training sessions.

⭐️Did you know? Future Cities is an elective course for eighth-grade students rooted in middle school STEM. Students in the class recently completed their projects to design a city 100 years in the future that eliminates food waste from farm to table and keeps its citizens healthy and safe. See pictures of their projects in progress here.

⭐️ Congratulations to our Mahtomedi LEGO League Robotics team, who recently concluded their season with one of their sub-teams earning the MN Programming Award at the Woodbury regional competition in December! Click here to see photos from competition and read about this recognition.

⭐️ Did you know Elouise Suoja, MHS Class of 2021 and owner of 350 Degrees Bakery in downtown Mahtomedi, first discovered her love of baking in a food class at MMS? She recently returned to share her passion for cake decorating with middle school students through a Mahtomedi Community Education class. Click here to read this full-circle story.

MPTO

Mahtomedi Elementary PTO

Meeting: The next MPTO meeting is on Wednesday, February 4, at 9:30 am at the District Education Center in Room 121. Anyone is welcome to attend and see what the PTO does and how the PTO supports our elementary schools. Note Spirit Wear will be sold at Wildwood on February 12 and at OHA on February 19, Volunteers are needed.

BOOK FAIR at Wildwood: The MPTO is looking for many volunteers to help at the book fair from February 10-20. Volunteers will run the easy-to-use cash register, help kids find books, and restock the shelves. All volunteers are required to have a yearly background check.   • Softball: Registration is now open for the Mahtomedi Fastpitch Association 8U softball.
