Like many school districts across Minnesota, we are navigating difficult budget challenges brought on by inflation and the need to address aging infrastructure. This informational video provides an overview of the challenges facing school districts.

Mahtomedi Public School is facing an expected $2,000,000 district budget deficit for the 2025-26 school year. The Mahtomedi School Board has held several meetings this school year about the 2025-26 budget. At their February meeting, the Board approved a proposal for using the fund balance as well as revenue and expenditure adjustments to address the deficit.

Our School Board and administrators are committed to working collaboratively to ensure we continue to deliver an excellent education while meeting our fiduciary duty to taxpayers. Over the next year, we will engage with our community to find solutions to our budget pressures and ensure our school facilities support a safe, engaging, and future-focused educational environment.

⭐️Did you know that we have a Mahtomedi High School team advancing to the NASA National Showcase? The students have designed and fabricated a Cosmic Dust Collector for NASA and will showcase it to them at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. • Register your student for a fun and meaningful one-day retreat hosted by United Way of Washington County-East and Hidden Pines Ranch! Happening on Wednesday, August 13 from 9 am - 2:30 pm, You R You is aimed at empowering girls entering into 6th grade to foster positive self-image and relationships through interactive activities and small group discussions. • Horse Visits: Three Little Burdes is a local nonprofit and they offer no cost horse experiences for children of ALL abilities. Visitors can choose which horse (of 3) they’d like to visit & which location (Stillwater, Hudson, & Hugo as of 3/1!) Each visit is tailored to the guest & comes with professional photos of the experience. We like to be a safe & gentle introduction for anyone interested in horses. There is no riding involved, just a low risk way to expose kids to horses & allow them to brush, lead, & feed some treats. Find us at threelittleburdes.org 

• Free Prom Dresses and Accessories: Project Fairy Godmothers has two upcoming events on April 5 and 6 at Oxford Community Center in St. Paul for students to access free new or gently used prom dresses, shoes, and accessories. Interested persons must sign up for an appointment here.

• Get Ready to Sail Into Summer: Looking for an exciting way to spend your summer? Registration is now open for Summer 2025  at the White Bear Sailing School. Learn the basics of sailing through games, activities, and drills during our All-Day Camps. Already have a solid understanding of Opti or 420 sailing and feel ready to take the next step and start racing? Try out our Learn to Race Classes! • The Kramer-Berg Legion & Auxiliary is hosting its 100th Birthday celebration at the Dugout Bar on April 6th 2-5 pm. This is a free event with food and prizes.
