Kindness Behind the Wheel=
Safety for Our Students and Staff

Unsafe driving in our preschool and elementary parking lots, like speeding, aggressive driving, and distracted behavior, is creating safety risks for our students and staff.

Wildwood and Preschool Families,

We’re reaching out with urgency and care to ask our family drivers in the Wildwood and Preschool parking lots to drive with kindness and safety. Unfortunately, we are seeing constant issues of speeding, aggressively driving, like cutting cars off or not allowing cars by, and families on cell phones while driving. These behaviors in our lots during drop off and pick up create serious safety risks for our preschool and elementary students as well as our staff.

The following are the expectations for driving in our parking areas:

  • Drive slowly, the speed limit is 10 when approaching, leaving, and on our school grounds.
  • Follow staff directions when approaching and leaving the school.
  • No phone use while driving or during pickup or dropoff.
  • Model kindness and grace to other vehicles engaged in pickup and drop-off.

As a reminder, the entrance and exit of the school is a three-lane system. The far right is the Wildwood line-up of cars, the middle lane is the Preschool access, and the far left is the exit lane for all vehicles.

We are grateful to partner with you in creating a safe and welcoming environment for all students and staff. When we lead with kindness and care, we show our children what it means to be part of the Zephyr community.

Thank you,

Scott Briske, Principal, Wildwood Elementary School
Angie Lundblad, Early Learning Supervisor, Mahtomedi Community Education
