When cold weather arrives in Minnesota, we want to ensure you have the information you need about weather emergency communications related to closings, delays, and early dismissals.

Please know decisions to close school are taken very seriously, and we use closings, delays, and early dismissals only when absolutely necessary.

There are three types of weather-related messages you may see during emergency weather.

Delay: The school start will be delayed in order to wait for snow removal and/or expected warmer weather.

e-Learning: Students learn at home when emergency weather is not safe for students and staff to be in person. Families and students receive school-level instructions.

Early Release: Secondary students are released early in order to give the buses an early start on the routes and helps get students home safely and on schedule during winter weather.

• The decision to cancel or delay school is made prior to 6:00 am if the necessary information is available.

• The decision for an early dismissal will be made during the school day when weather and road conditions become unsafe for students to continue until the end of the school day.

• SMS Text Message

• Email

• Social Media: We will make notifications on our Facebook and Instagram accounts.

• Web pages: All of our building web pages will be updated with information on the front pages.

• Local News and Radio: notifications will be on KARE channel 11, KSTP channel 5, WCCO channel 4, and WCCO radio 830.

• Check your Infinite Campus account to ensure your contact information is up to date.

• Follow our Facebook and Instagram accounts (notices are posted on social media too).
