On January 6, the newly elected Mahtomedi School Board members were sworn in. Congratulations to Drew Whitson, Stacey Stout, and Kelly Reagan. The newly elected members will serve until January 8, 2029. Click here to watch the January 6 meeting video.
The Mahtomedi School Board is considering a public-private funding approach to meet our facility needs, including a bond referendum and private philanthropy. Mahtomedi families and staff are invited to share feedback on a questionnaire regarding fundraising to support our school facilities.

2025 Information Night
The kindergarten information night is on January 23 at Wildwood Elementary School. The event is a fun opportunity for families and incoming Kindergarten students to tour the school and classrooms, meet our Kindergarten teachers, and learn more about our awesome Kindergarten program. There will be five sessions families will attend. Please attend based on your child's last name:
Session 1: 5:00-6:00 pm Last name begins with A-D
Session 2: 5:30-6:30 pm Last name begins with E-J
Session 3: 6:00-7:00 pm Last name begins with K-M
Session 4: 6:30-7:30 pm Last name begins with N-Si
Session 5: 7:00-8:00 pm Last name begins with Sj-Z

Preschool Information
The Mahtomedi Area Preschool program open house and registration events are approaching! On January 14, join us for the Preschool Open House (District Education Center 4:30-6 pm & Wildwood Elementary 5:30-7 pm). During the open house, you will be able to tour our classrooms, learn more about our program, meet teachers and associates, and ask questions. This is a family-friendly open house.
On January 22, Preschool Registration starts for currently enrolled Mahtomedi Early Childhood families (In-District starts Jan. 28 and Feb. 4 registration opens to the public).
Winter weather has arrived. We want to ensure you have the information you need about weather emergency communications related to closings, delays, and early dismissals. Special Education Paraprofessionals
The position is responsible for providing an educational environment that will help students with disabilities in learning and fulfill their growth potential. Assists special education teachers to work with students on their academic and social behavioral skills.
Hours: 6.25 hours/day

Each month, our principals share a "Spotlight on Learning" in school eNews. Read the spotlights below to learn more about impact in each of our schools.
Wildwood Elementary School: Read the Wildwood Spotlight to learn more about the Second Step program, which equips students with essential skills in managing their emotions, fostering empathy, and developing problem-solving strategies. Learn how Second Step positively impacts students and prepares them to support their peers and positively contribute to their community.
O.H. Anderson Elementary School (OHA): Read the OHA Spotlight to learn more about how OHA empowers our students to discover their strengths and interests, encouraging them to make a positive impact on the world—even at the young ages of 8, 9, and 10. Learn how students are building a community at school through their morning news program, peer mentoring, and through ongoing service opportunities inside and outside of the classroom.
Mahtomedi Middle School (MMS): Read the MMS Spotlight to learn about the holiday card project for residents at St. Andrews Village and Briarcliff. Students have been exploring the topic of kindness and learning about the lasting impact of kindness on people.
Mahtomedi High School (MHS): Read the MHS Spotlight to learn about how students are leveraging their strengths to make a beneficial impact locally and globally, specifically through a new tutoring program, the Zephyr Buddies flex opportunity, and the NASA HUNCH design project program.

⭐️Congratulations to Mahtomedi Alum Wyatt Tarnowski (Mahtomedi High School Class of 2024), who was selected for the 2024 Advanced Placement (AP) Art and Design Digital Exhibit. Wyatt is one of 50 students among 80,000 student portfolios selected for the honor. Click here to learn more and see his art.
⭐️ Thanks to a partnership between the Advanced Academics Program at Mahtomedi Public Schools and Mahtomedi Community Education, 50 students in grades 3-5 at O.H. Anderson Elementary School had the opportunity to attend the SparkPath Creativity Festival. Click here to see the photos from the event.
⭐️ Mahtomedi High School students recently displayed their History Day Projects at school. Students choose a topic that relates to an annual theme (the 2025 theme is Rights and Responsibilities in History), research that topic, and present their research in one of five presentation categories: Research Paper, Exhibit, Documentary, Performance, or Website. ⭐️ The Mahtomedi High School National Honor Society students have made a big impact in our community this year- 2,126 hours of volunteer impact, to be exact- and they continue to add more! Join the MPTO for their next Family Fun Movie Night!
January 31: Monsters University
Family Fun Nights are free, fun events for the family. All children with a parent/guardian are welcome.
January 31 from 6-8 pm (Doors open at 5:45 pm and the movie starts at 6:05 pm) Big Gym at O.H. Anderson Elementary School.
Popcorn from Woodbury 10 Theater will be provided. Bring a water bottle! The event is free, but they are accepting donations to help cover the cost of movie licensing. Bring blankets and pillows to sit on. Chairs are allowed in the back of the gym.
Teacher conferences are coming in February, and the Mahtomedi Middle School Parent Association (MMSPA) would like your help to treat our MMS teachers and staff to a special meal on the first afternoon of conferences. Mahtomedi Outdoor Skate Party
Celebrate winter at this annual event with a bonfire, hot beverages, and food. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors. This event is Free, and registration is not required.
Sunday, Jan. 26: 12-3:00 PM (In case of bad weather: makeup day is Feb. 2)
The winter festivities occur at the community rink and warming house north of the District Education Center.
Sponsored by Mahtomedi Parks Commission, Mahtomedi Youth Hockey Association, and Mahtomedi Community Education.
Softball: Registration is now open for Mahtomedi Fastpitch Association 8U softball. This is a great opportunity for girls to learn the fundamentals of softball in a coach-pitch, fair-play environment. Girls aged kindergarten through 8 years old are eligible. Lacrosse: Try Lacrosse for Free on Saturday, January 25, 2025: 4-8 years old 4:40-5:10 pm and 9-14 years old 5:10-5:40 pm.
