This past week, our schools were filled with joyful energy from our staff! Staff have been busy training and preparing for the 2024-25 school year and were excited to welcome families and students for the open house and orientation events.
On Monday, August 26, staff started the day with a breakfast sponsored by the Mahtomedi Area Educational Foundation (MAEF) and then gathered together at the district-wide staff welcome-back event. During the event, staff were introduced to new staff, learned about how staff across the district are living the strategic plan, and they heard from the 2024-25 Mahtomedi Teacher of the Year, Ryan Collins. MAEF President Barbara White spoke about the ways MAEF supports our district and awarded Mr. Collins a recognition gift to use for his classroom. Click here to see it all in action!
New Look at OHA ⭐️
As students and staff return to O.H. Anderson Elementary School this fall, they’ll notice our classrooms have a new, bright look! During the summer of 2024, classrooms were updated with new windows, carpet flooring, and many of the classrooms also received a fresh, new paint color. The remaining classrooms will be painted on school breaks throughout the school year into next summer. The new solid windows help with privacy in the classrooms and will improve the control of the building temperature. The Mahtomedi School Board approved this project in 2023, and it is part of our 10-year facilities plan that invests and maintains our community’s school facilities. Click here to see the new classroom look.
⭐️ MHS Link Crew Welcomes Class of 2028: Our Class of 2028 students recently spent the morning at Mahtomedi High School (MHS) with Link Crew Leaders, preparing for their first day of high school! Link Crew is a group of 11th and 12th-grade students who help support and mentor 9th-grade students throughout the year. During their visit, the Class of 2028 students had the opportunity to find all of their classes and meet their teachers and peers. The Link Crew held tours, organized get-to-know-you activities, served lunch, and helped distribute Chromebooks. Click here to see some of the photos from the event.
⭐️Did you know that our elementary students start the school year after our secondary students? This important time is used to get to know our elementary students on an academic and personal level. Learn more about the impact and importance of elementary assessment days from educators Beth Johnson and Quinn Anderson.
