Each month, Principal Jackie Collins spotlights learning happening at Mahtomedi Middle School. This month, the Principal's spotlight focuses on Personal Success
At Mahtomedi Middle School, we strive to provide students with a variety of opportunities to explore different subjects and activities to see what might spark an interest as they grow and develop. While trying new things comes easy for some students, it's a bit harder for others to step out of their comfort zones. We know that support and encouragement are important to students' success at these key moments, whether they take place in the classroom, on the stage, or on the court or field.
All of our staff are committed to engaging with and encouraging each student as they learn more about themselves and the things that they are gifted in as well as the things that they may struggle with. One key group of staff members who provide a unique kind of consistency throughout each Middle School student's journey at MMS is our Counselors. They follow students through all three years at MMS, giving them the ability to get to know students' needs, gifts, challenges, and goals to help them navigate the many opportunities in front of them. Success looks different for everyone and we are proud of the many ways that our staff works to provide encouragement, support, and consistency for each of our students to guide them to their own personal success on their Middle School journey.

Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek The Musical JR., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.
Performances are:
Friday, 2/28 at 7:00pm
Saturday, 3/1 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm
Sunday, 3/2 at 2:00pm
Click here for tickets. All shows will take place at the Chautauqua Fine Arts Center at Mahtomedi High School. We hope to see you there!

Due to high demand, Mahtomedi Community Education is looking to start an NFL Flag Football Girls team for Mahtomedi Middle School. In order to start the program, we need a head coach! Students in Ms. Korich's English classes created dinner menus inspired by their independent reading books and shared them with their classmates in a round of speed dating with books.
Students in 6th grade English did a carousel brainstorm to dive into the complex themes and topics of The Outsiders.
