Support the Mahtomedi Area Food Shelf (MAFS) by donating non-perishable food items between today and October 17. The drop-off bin is in the MMS front office.
With its backpack program, the MAFS supports 98 students. They are currently low on donations and could use our help. This food drive is a service project sponsored by the Zephyr Cooking Club, who will walk donations to the food shelf on the October 18 no school day. Afterward, students will discuss service learning in the community, socialize, & enjoy Domino’s pizza Click here to register for the service learning project.
The District Curriculum Advisory Committee, made up primarily of parents, is looking for additional representatives from our school. Members of this committee hear about and provide feedback on teaching and learning-related initiatives including goal setting, new course proposals, and literacy. If you want to serve on the team, please contact me at jackie.collins@isd832.net.
MMS wants to honor the veterans who sacrificed so much for our country!
A roll of honor will be put up in the Mahtomedi Middle School Media Center to honor all service members related to MMS students. If you have a service member in your family (past or present) that you would like to recognize, please have your child pick up a form from their Social Studies teacher. They are due back by Friday, October 25th.
Families - forms will also be on a table in front of the Middle School office during parent-teacher conferences on October 10th, 15th, and 16th. Please help us to honor the veterans in your family!
On October 10th, MMS students will take the mySAEBRS survey. mySAEBRS is a screener that is utilized, along with additional information, to identify supports a student may need to be successful at school. MMS began using mySAEBRS as a student self-assessment in the fall of 2022, and mySAEBRS has been used at O.H. Anderson Elementary for years. The mySAEBRS asks questions about how students feel about school and connections to adults and peers at school. Below are some examples of the questions.
The survey will take about 5 minutes for students to complete. To learn more, please visit the mySAEBRS website here.
MMS WEB Leaders held a freeze pop fundraiser for the last two Fridays, selling freeze pops for $1.00 after school. It was fun to see our WEB Leaders hard at work and the rest of our students excited to start their weekends off with a sweet frozen treat!
