1st Semester Ends January 23rd
The first semester is nearing an end. Please take the time to review your student-athlete’s current grades as we approach Finals Week January 21st - 23rd. Encourage your student-athlete to use Flextime and designated study sessions to best prepare themselves. If your student needs assistance in developing a plan to improve any grades please have them reach out to their teacher or guidance counselor.

Academic Eligibility for Extracurricular Activities
To participate in extracurricular activities at Mahtomedi High School (MHS), students must maintain satisfactory academic progress toward graduation. This means passing all classes.
Consequences of Failing Grades:
Two Failing Grades Rule: If a student fails two classes in a single semester, or fails a class in two consecutive semesters (e.g., spring to fall semester or fall to spring semester), they will be ineligible to participate in the next two regular season interscholastic contests.
Practice Requirement During Suspension: Students who are ineligible must still practice with their team during their suspension period.
Completion of Season Requirement: Suspensions must be served within the current athletic season. If the season ends before the suspension is completed, the remaining penalty will be applied to the student's next athletic season of participation. If the student does not complete the season in which they served the suspension the suspension will start over in the next athletic season of participation.
Additional Failing Grades: After a student has already been penalized for failing grades, each additional "F" will result in a further suspension of two regular season interscholastic contests.
Special Circumstances: The Student Support Team, Principal, and Activities Director will make eligibility decisions for special education and at-risk students on a case-by-case basis.
Minnesota State High School League Credit Requirements for Participation:
To be eligible for extracurricular activities, students must meet the following minimum credit requirements set by the Minnesota State High School League:
9th Grade: 1 credit (Semester 1) - 4 credits (Semester 2)
10th Grade: 7 credits (Semester 1) - 10 credits (Semester 2)
11th Grade: 13 credits (Semester 1) - 16 credits (Semester 2)
12th Grade: 19 credits (Semester 1) - 22 credits (Semester 2)
Thank you for your continued support of Mahtomedi Activities and GO ZEPHYRS!
