MMS students

You Shared, We Listened.

Mahtomedi Middle School (MMS) families shared on the annual family survey that they would like more information about our activities and reminders about upcoming registration. We listened and are now sharing a quarterly email with you to help you stay on top of upcoming deadlines and offerings.

MMS Families,

As we look ahead to the coming school year, we are proud to offer activities that help our MMS students gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to reach their goals. From discovering new interests to building life skills or playing team sports, these experiences foster connection, growth, and success beyond the classroom.

We have many exciting new opportunities in our Fall 2025 Community Education Catalog! Browse, register, and learn more on Eleyo.

We are always here to listen! What opportunities would you like to see available for your students? Suggest an idea here.

Middle School Band Opportunities

Did you know we have two key offerings for our middle school band students through Mahtomedi Community Education?

Summer Beginner Band
All 5th graders who registered for 6th grade are strongly encouraged to take part in this summer opportunity. This camp is also for any students who are starting an instrument for the first time.

Students will work with a professional musician and teacher to learn the basics of their instrument and be prepared for the first day of MMS band class in the fall. Click here to secure your spot today! Starting soon–this camp begins Monday, August 18!

Private Band Lessons
Mahtomedi Community Education partners with knowledgeable instructors to offer private lessons as a valuable extension of the band experience. These lessons give each musician the personal attention they need to grow and reach their full potential. Click here to see our band lessons in action!

Our instructors are currently finalizing schedules for this fall; families who have students in MMS band should watch their emails for details about scheduling!

Fostering Career Exploration for MMS Students

Middle school-aged students recently had the unforgettable opportunity to tour Allianz Field through Mahtomedi Community Education’s Zephyr Cooking Club, instructed by Ms. Alice Seuffert. This once-in-a-lifetime tour was led by the Minnesota United’s Partnership and Marketing coordinator, who shared all about his career with our students.

This experience is one way Mahtomedi Community Education is working to provide more career exploration opportunities for middle school students, a need identified in our community needs assessment survey. Click here for a behind-the-scenes look at this career field trip!

Zephyr Cooking Club hits the road again this fall for another exciting field trip to meet Ben the Baker–a professional baker and mixed martial artist–and participate in service learning. Click here to register.

Middle school students baking

Mastering Baking Skills and Giving Back

This summer, Mahtomedi Middle School students had a fun and rewarding experience baking cookies. Alongside their teacher and high school mentors, the students made ginger, sugar sprinkle, and brownie cookies. The students learned important baking skills, like measurements, using mixers, and safely using the oven.

The students enjoyed eating some of their creations and selling the rest at the Mahtomedi Community Garage Sale to raise funds for scholarships. Click here learn more about the experience from one of our student bakers, Silas!

Interested in more cooking/baking opportunities? Don’t miss Fall Cookie Decorating or the beloved Zephyr Cooking Club!
