You Shared, We Listened

Did you know your feedback directly shapes our programs?

On a recent community needs assessment survey, we learned that our community wants to see more community events. Over the past year, we have enhanced events like our Middle School Youth Night, which now runs in both the fall and spring, and introduced new events like our Pet Extravaganza, coming this summer!

Have an idea for an event? We're here to listen. Email us at communityed@isd832.net.

Around Community Education

Community members at Sweetheart Dance

Sweetheart Dance

Mahtomedi Community Education recently welcomed families back for our annual Sweetheart Dance, and the joy was everywhere! Thank you to all the families and little Zephyrs who brought so much energy and enthusiasm.

Since its start in 2016, the Sweetheart Dance has become a beloved tradition for Mahtomedi families. This year, we celebrated our largest turnout yet with over 140 children and their moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and special adults. Click here to see the sweet behind-the-scenes moments!

Community members at Baby Shower event

Community Baby Shower

Our Community Baby Shower recently brought together families with little ones (0–12 months) for a morning of connection, learning, and support. Families had the chance to meet one another, connect with our Parent Educators, and learn about resources available right here in Mahtomedi!

The baby shower ended with a baby yoga session, which brought calm and joyful moments as parents learned different massage techniques to relax and soothe their babies. Click here to see the heartwarming moments from this event.

Community members at Puzzle Competition

Puzzle Competition

We recently celebrated National Puzzle Day with a puzzle competition, and we loved seeing community members come together to enjoy a shared passion. Teams raced the clock to complete a 500-piece puzzle, with the top team finishing in under 30 minutes!

We started this event over the summer in response to our community's feedback requesting more community events. Thank you to the new and familiar faces who joined us! Click here to see our top three teams!

Early Childhood educators at training

Early Childhood Literacy Training

Did you know our preschool teachers are participating in the same literacy training as educators across Mahtomedi Public Schools?

Over the past year, our Early Childhood educators completed 40 hours of Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) professional development. This rigorous training strengthens their expertise in how children learn to read and write, and in how best to support early literacy from the very beginning.

Click here to learn more about how our Early Childhood and elementary teaching practices align, creating a smooth supportive transition for our students!
