Families Find Joy and Connection at Community Events
Mahtomedi Community Education recently hosted two annual community events for families: the Community Baby Shower and Sweetheart Dance.
At the Community Baby Shower, families with infants 0-12 months spent time meeting each other and our Parent Educators, participating in activities such as baby yoga, and connecting with and receiving valuable infant resources from our local partners. Click here to learn more and see photos from the event.
The popular Sweetheart Dance, which started back in 2016 at the District Education Center, brought back many familiar faces this year! Mahtomedi Community Education is always looking for new ways to make our community events better, and after taking feedback from community members that the event needed more space, we hosted the event at Mahtomedi Middle School this year. With more space, families could come off the waitlist and we had over 120 children plus their moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and special adults attend! Click here to see sweet photos and behind-the-scenes moments from the evening.
We have several family-friendly community events coming up this spring including Nature Night, Community Lunch, and Food Truck Friday!
Middle School Youth Night
Mahtomedi Community Education recently hosted its second Middle School Youth Night. This event started as a commitment to ensuring our Middle School students have opportunities to socialize and connect with their peers. Check out this comment from a parent: “The MMS Youth Night was my child's "high of the week." Thank you, Mahtomedi Community Education for your commitment to helping our middle school-age students have fun opportunities to socialize in a joyful way. There were so many fun activities and we appreciate your work on this special event!” Click here to see fun photos from the event.
Do you have a Middle School-aged student? We have several upcoming classes that are great opportunities for students in grades 6-8 to socialize and connect with their peers: TGA Pickleball, Card, RPG & Strategy Games Club, Basic Cake Decorating.
MAC Garage Sale
Students in our Mahtomedi Adventure Club (MAC) childcare program recently participated in their highly-anticipated garage sale. This fun tradition, which has been going on for seven years, is a favorite of many of our students! Each student brought a beach towel to use as their storefront and a collection of toys and items from around their house to sell. After pricing their items, they were each awarded 5 MAC bucks and encouraged to let the buying/selling begin! Click here to see delightful photos from the garage sale.
Curiosity Club
Mahtomedi's youngest learners ages 4-8 have an opportunity through Mahtomedi Community Education to let their imaginations roam in an outdoor learning program called Curiosity Club, led by Ms. Amanda. Students recently gathered after school for the first session this season, called Winter Wonders, where they learned about different animal tracks such as deer, bobcat, rabbit, squirrel, and turkey. They then explored the woodlands, searching the snow and excitedly signaling to each other when they found tracks. Click here to hear from Ms. Amanda about the impact of Curiosity Club.
We love seeing community members like Ms. Amanda help us create new opportunities such as Curiosity Club. We are always looking for new ideas and instructors from our community; send your ideas to communityed@isd832.net.
Mahtomedi Esports Team Secures Three State Championships
