Community Theater Rehearsals

Preparing for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

This summer, our community members have been hard at work bringing to life Mahtomedi’s first-ever community theater production, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee! We asked the cast and crew what they are most excited for as we near their debut. Lydia Elwell, who plays Olive Ostrovsky, shared this: “It’s overall such a funny show, and I’m so excited to hear all the laughter, because everyone here is doing amazing, and it’s going to be so exciting to see that pay off.” Bridget Ellison, Eve Porter, and Rudy Perez-Quintero–who also star in the cast–echoed this feeling of pride and excitement to share the show’s infectious joy with the audience.Click here for a behind-the-scenes look of their recent rehearsal.

Community Garage Sale Impact

Mahtomedi Community Education's recent Community Garage Sale was a huge success, all thanks to you! Over 100 families donated items during our drop-off, and over 200 people visited the sale and donated funds to support youth scholarships, raising money to benefit approximately 25 scholarships. Click here to watch a video about the impact of the event.

How does this event give back? All proceeds go towards our youth scholarship program, making classes and activities more accessible to students from early childhood through twelfth grade. If your family qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch, you’re eligible for a 25% discount on one registration per family member per catalog. Students in financial planning class

Preparing Students for Their Financial Futures

We learned from our community needs assessment survey that our community wants to see more opportunities for high school students to develop life skills such as financial literacy, money management, and budgeting. We recently partnered with the Royal Credit Union to offer a free class for our high school students called Financial Planning: Budgeting 101. Click here for a behind-the-scenes look at the class.

Did you know we are partnering with the Royal Credit Union to offer more FREE opportunities for high school students to develop financial literacy? Don’t miss Financial Planning: Safety and Security and Financial Planning: Dollars and Sense, coming this fall.
